Covid-19 Response:

Due to the pandemic I have made some changes to my practice for your safety and your family’s safety, as well as mine and my family’s.

I triage my clients over the phone prior to a visit. This is in the first instance to see if I can offer immediate help and support. It is then about determining the urgency of a visit and if my client would be better supported by another person/agency.

If a visit is urgent then we will make a mutually agreed date and time for a home visit.

I have restricted my visits to one client a day. This means I arrive in fresh clothes and can go home and change. I will leave my coat, shoes, and ID at the front door. I will wear a washable apron, a face covering and change gloves as appropriate during the visit. All my bags and material are sprayed with antiseptic once I arrive home in preparation for the next visit. We will endeavour to maintain social distance.

I will ask you to sign a disclaimer saying that you and the members in your household are symptom free and have been following national guidelines. This disclaimer states that I, and my household, are symptomless and are following the national guidelines.

This is a very anxious time for everyone, and I understand how uncertain times seem. Having a new baby is a steep learning curve and without the additional support of friends and family can seem lonely and isolating. I would encourage you to still seek out support through groups which may be online (your Health Visitor will know of some groups) and to feel you can talk about the conflicting emotions you may be having.

Breastfeeding is actively encouraged during this time, there is no need to stop if you or anyone in your household experience symptoms.
